Moxie FAQ
Why Moxie? What is our Mission?
Our mission is to provide excellent softball instruction to prepare our players to compete at a higher level. We do this through forging strong family partnerships, providing high quality coaching, and participating in competitive play. At ETM, the game of softball is used as a vehicle to teach young girls important life skills. Teamwork, perseverance, and class are just a few of the values we emphasize through our whole athlete approach. We want our girls to fall in love with softball; to appreciate what it means to “honor the game”; and ultimately to develop the confidence and skills they will need to succeed both on and off the field.

What league do we play in?
Most of our teams participate in the Wisconsin Fastpitch League [WFL]. This entails six doubleheaders in June & July, and a single elimination tourney. All Moxie teams will likely continue with the WFL next year. The WFL is ever-growing! Other teams include the New Berlin Magic, Kettle Moraine Lasers, Burlington Blast, Waterford Wolverines, Franklin Force, Tosa Shock and Elkhorn Express.

What about tournaments & scrimmages?
Our teams typically participate in 3-5 weekend tournaments, and a handful of scrimmages. Families are polled in advance regarding their player’s availability before scheduling tournaments and every effort is made to accommodate them.Competitions will be no more than one hour away from East Troy, with most being 30 minutes or less.

What age group is my daughter eligible for?
Typically, player birth year determines eligibility. Some tournaments and the WFL league are more relaxed with allowing players newer to the sport to play down an age group:
8U - 2016 & younger
10U - 2015 & 2014
12U - 2013 & 2011
14U - 2011 & 2010
** Please note that Moxie reserves the right to place a player in any age group that she is eligible for as based on USA Softball OR USSSA Sofbtall age calssifications.

How often and where do teams practice?
November - Mid March: Practice is 1X/week, indoors at an East Troy school. Location depends on the team.
Mid March - July - Practice is 1X-2X/week, depending on game schedule and need, outdoors at Mitchell Fields.

How long is the season? What’s the time commitment?
November - March - Indoor Practice ; maybe an indoor tournament depending on the team.
March - July - Outdoor Practice
June & July - WFL League Play
May-July - 3-5 weekend tournaments.
Late July - Boot Camp & Tryouts.
SOME teams also choose to participate in Fall Ball (late September through October) Moxie is a HUGE proponent of the multi-sport athlete. We are very understanding if players have other sports or activities commitments in the off season, but once mid March hits, the expectation is that softball will be the priority activity.

What is the financial commitment?
Club dues for the 22-23 season are $450 + cost of uniforms and individual equipment (glove, cleats, helmet & facemask). Dues may vary by team depending on the number of tournaments that team participates in.
